Board of Regents Meeting

The 糖心原创 Board of Regents will hold a regular meeting at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 21. in Petersen Room on the 4th floor of the Allen Library, Seattle campus. The Regents will meet in formal session to take official action on personnel appointments and changes, gifts and grants, contracts and agreements with outside agencies, and other University business.

UW Valerian and Sleep Study Seeking Participants

UW researchers are seeking men age 55鈥�80 yrs old for a study of how valerian, an herbal medicine, affects sleep and how the body eliminates Valerian during sleep. Participants must be non-smokers and not currently taking any type of sleep aids. The study will involve:

• Twelve overnight stays of about 8鈥�10 hours at the Sleep Research Laboratory in the School of Nursing over an 8-week period.
  
• Taking both Valerian and placebo at bedtime for two weeks each, in random order.
  
• Keeping a diary of medications and symptoms.
